Etc Cafe & Restaurant – Bloggers Event


Etc., Cafe and Restaurant is gaining popularity by the day among Chennai Foodies. We were very happy when they invited us for a blogger interaction event. Etc is hosting a seafood festival for coming two weeks and the menu was open to us bloggers even before it was open to public.

When we walked in the restaurant, the ambiance was the first to catch our eyes. And that is how it should be. We were welcomed with a wonderful musk melon juice as welcome drink giving some respite to the heat outside. The interiors were thoughtfully done. The cafe’s interior decoration was more so. It was perfect for the crazy, fun loving bunch like us. We were introduced to the proprietors of the restaurant. They didn’t take much time to introduce themselves and let us enjoy our food.

The Chennai Bloggers Club will leave out the details of each and every dish, because the food bloggers who will write about this will make complete justice. But we would like to let you know what you can expect when you visit their seafood festival.

A brief look into the seafood menu:

Shrimp cocktail: Shelled, perfectly cooked crispy prawns in a tangy sauce, served in a shot glass. A tequila to your taste buds!

Soup:

Curried coconut seafood soup: This delicious Thai style soup has coconut milk, shrimp, scallops – the coconut adds a complex flavour, at the same time light on your stomach. The perfect summer soup!

Starters:

Panko Fried Crab Patties: Crab cakes crusted with Panko- coarse Japanese styled breadcrumbs- are elegant appetizers perfect for any occasion, served with fresh herbs, lemon and mayo.

Tawa Fish: One word. Yummy. The freshest of fish, marinated and tawa fried – oh la la! They melt in your mouth.

Main Course:

Southern style Vanjaram fish curry: True authentic Vanjaram fish curry, with flavours reminiscent from Kariakudi. A tangy spicy dish – served the Madras Style!

Tilapia with Risotto: A medley of spices brings crisp Tilapia – freshwater fish- to life when paired with rich creamy risotto. A heavenly experience for your palette.

Ahi Tuna Steak with Noodles: Fresh tuna crusted in sesame seeds and seared on a bed of noodles, served with vibrant green veggies and lemon grass. A fish lover’s paradise!

Desserts:

Baklava: A rich sweet pastry made with layers of filo and chopped nuts sweetened with syrup or honey and held together with love. You can’t stop with one!

Chocolate mousse: Our very own humble chocolate based dish, so soft and perfect in texture. It will melt in your mouth.

Not everyone who attended were Non-Vegetarians. Etc was quick to prepare a menu that suited Vegetarians as well

A brief look into the veg menu:

Starter:

Bharwan Paneer: Fresh Grilled Indian cheese paneer marinated with yogurt, turmeric, ginger and spices served with mint chutney offers a simple yet lip smacking starter.

Soup:

Cream of mushroom soup: A delicious creamy soup with fresh mushrooms and herbs. The perfect comfort food wherever the occasion, any day and any time.

Main Course:

Mangalorean Vegetable Curry A traditional Mangalorean dish, a mildly fragrant curry, made predominantly of garlic, pepper, chilly and onion paste with the freshest of vegetables.

Couscous pilaf Aubergine sandwich: The perfect duo of marvelously cooked couscous matched with fresh grilled aubergine or egg plant. A truly satisfying meal!

We would like to thank Etc for the opportunity they gave The Chennai Bloggers Club, to be  a part of their new menu launch. The service was impeccable and the gentlemen below were exceptional on that day. We are sure they are the other days too.
